Editorial Standards

Clear advice starts with being clear about how it was produced.

Nordwai publishes practical outdoor guidance for anglers, kayak fishers and campers. These standards explain how we approach research, product coverage, commercial relationships and corrections.

First-hand experience and research

First-hand use, specification-based comparisons and researched guidance are different kinds of evidence. Nordwai aims to identify them honestly. An article should never imply that a product was personally tested when it was not.

Research-based articles draw on manufacturer documentation, technical specifications and other relevant sources. When practical experience informs an article, the conditions and limits of that experience should be made clear.

Recommendations and comparisons

There is rarely one best piece of outdoor equipment for everyone. We consider intended use, conditions, durability, weight, simplicity, cost and the trade-offs between them. The aim is to help readers make a sound choice, not to turn every new product into a must-have.

Commercial transparency

Some Nordwai pages contain affiliate links. If a reader buys through one of those links, Nordwai may earn a commission at no additional cost to the reader. Commercial relationships do not change the standard applied to a recommendation or comparison. Read the full Affiliate Disclosure.

Corrections and updates

Outdoor products, prices and specifications change. We review and update material when practical, and we correct substantive errors when they are identified. If something looks wrong or needs clarification, please use the Contact page.

The standard we work toward

Useful over noisy. Specific over vague. Honest about evidence and uncertainty. Nordwai’s purpose is to help people arrive outside better prepared.
